Did you know that the 13th of September is celebrated worldwide as Positive Thinking Day? I almost forgot, since for me positive thinking day is everyday, but my friend Petra helped me remember the event with her blogpost. If you have days like hers sometimes, at least you can let it all go and relax in the evening with me. :) Your MARK

“It’s early morning and I am drinking my first morning coffee, eating pancakes, still in my pajamas. When my eyes rest on the calendar, I read the little note out loud: “It’s Positive Thinking Day today.” And I instantly know how to celebrate it! Whatever happens today, nothing will spoil my mood today, I promise myself. I still have some time before heading to work so I begin with a positive activity right away. I leave the coffee cup on the table and with a mysterious smile, I enter the bathroom. Nothing makes me happier than a relaxing, deliciously smelling shower promising the feeling of renewed skin. I turn on the water, close my eyes and breath in the chocolate smell spread around the bathroom, perfectly fitting to the aftertaste of coffee on my tongue…. I think you know what I mean :) After this proper cleanse of body and mind I put on a flowery summer dress and I am ready to go. What a positive start of the day!

Singing, I scurry happily to my car, when suddenly… “Oh, no!” I yelp as I see the content of my lunch box on my dress. I try to stay calm, inhale and exhale slowly as I walk back inside to change and keep reminding myself to stay positive today. In a new blue outfit I give my departure a second try and drive to work. Who cares there are no parking spots left, that the new receptionist doesn’t want to let me in because I forgot my chip card or that I didn’t catch the elevator. Those things are just giving my day some spice, I think to myself.

I turn on the computer, check the flowers on my desk and start working. After a few minutes my colleague enters and asks me to help her with some excel spreadsheets. Sure, it’s a positive day, I’ll help. I leave my save place in open space and begin taming those naughty spreadsheets. Unfortunately, it took way longer than I expected. When I return to my kingdom, I find a post-it note from my boss. It’s not a thank you note, sadly, I missed an important deadline. Apologizing and explaining doesn’t help. I am facing an angry head madly marching up and down the office.

Well, it’s finally over. I promise to always set reminders for deadlines to never miss another one. The morning with all its craziness passed quickly and suddenly, it’s lunch time. I grab a salad bowl, a croissant and a cup of coffee from our cafeteria and make myself comfortable on the lawn outside. What a picnic. The moment I open the lid to my coffee and smell it, I close my eyes and I am in my shower again, I can hear the pouring water caressing my skin, I smell the scent of coffee scrub and all my problems are distant again… That’s what I call a positive approach that no one can ruin for me today. Thank you MARK, every day that begins with a shower date with you is always postitive. :) Your Petra.”
